Services
At Waypoint Physio, we provide the following mobile physiotherapy services for NDIS participants and icare (Lifetime Care and Workers Care) clients:
-
We offer comprehensive physiotherapy assessments to determine each client’s individual needs and functional abilities. Assessments involve taking a detailed history, conducting a thorough examination and completing relevant outcome measures to guide clinical decisions and recommendations. Together, we identify the client’s goals and develop a personalised plan to achieve them.
-
We prepare clear and professional reports that provide recommendations for ongoing physiotherapy supports, assist with specialised equipment prescription and communicate key information to those coordinating or overseeing the client’s care. These reports summarise client goals and needs, providing the evidence required to access ongoing therapy supports and funding, ensuring decisions about care are collaborative and well informed.
-
At Waypoint Physio, we prescribe airway clearance techniques and devices to help clear excess mucus from the lungs. This supports improved breathing, exercise tolerance and quality of life while reducing the risk of chest infections and hospitalisation.
Following a thorough assessment we determine the most effective airway clearance regime for each client, which may include:
Breathing exercises
Positive expiratory pressure (PEP) therapy
Mechanical insufflation-exsufflation (MIE) device, also known as a cough assist device
Nebuliser
Lung volume recruitment device
Portable suction unit
We also offer respiratory muscle strength training using specialised devices to enhance breathing efficiency, cough effectiveness and overall function.
-
We conduct comprehensive gait analysis to evaluate walking patterns, identify biomechanical or neuromuscular deficits and assess factors contributing to pain, reduced mobility or falls risk.
Physiotherapy intervention aims to optimise gait efficiency, stability and independence and may include:
Strengthening and range of motion exercises
Balance and coordination exercises
Gait retraining
Recommendations for appropriate mobility aids
Referral to a Podiatrist or Orthotist Prosthetist Clinician may also be arranged depending on assessment findings and individual needs.
-
We assess functional mobility and recommend appropriate and practical transfer and mobility aids, including gait belts, walkers and walking sticks. Individualised training ensures safe and effective use of the prescribed aid, covering correct techniques for transfers, walking and navigating different environments. The focus is always on maximising independence, participation and safety.
-
We offer falls prevention programs designed to reduce the risk of falls and improve confidence with mobility. Individualised programs focus on balance, strength, coordination and functional mobility, alongside education on environmental safety, use of assistive equipment and strategies to manage dizziness or fear of falling. Our goal is to help each client to move safely, maintain independence and participate fully in daily life.
-
We provide functional capacity training to improve a client’s ability to perform everyday tasks safely and efficiently. Training is tailored to each client’s goals and may include activities that replicate real-life tasks, task-specific exercises and strategies to optimise energy use and movement efficiency.
-
We develop personalised programs to improve muscle strength and endurance as well as programs focused on joint stability, proprioception and coordinated muscle recruitment to optimise movement patterns.
Programs may include resistance training, functional movement exercises and cardiovascular conditioning and can be designed to complete at home or in a community gym. This approach is particularly beneficial for clients with movement disorders or following neurological injury. -
We offer aquatic physiotherapy, a form of exercise-based therapy conducted in a heated pool. The buoyancy, warmth and resistance of the water allow for movement and strengthening with reduced joint load and pain.
Aquatic physiotherapy can help to improve mobility, balance, strength, circulation and overall functional capacity while promoting relaxation and confidence in movement. Sessions are conducted at local pools selected to ensure accessibility and safety. -
We provide physiotherapy programs designed to help manage chronic pain and fatigue, supporting clients to move comfortably and engage fully in daily activities. Through education, pacing strategies, gentle exercise and individualised therapy plans we improve function, reduce pain and enhance overall quality of life. Programs are tailored to each client’s goals and capacity with a focus on long-term self-management and sustainable progress.
-
We offer tailored education and training for carers, support workers and family members to build confidence and understanding in supporting a client’s unique needs. This may include guidance on equipment use, safe manual handling, posture and muscle tone management and assistance with respiratory devices or home exercise programs.
Education and training sessions empower those involved in care to promote safety, independence and overall wellbeing.
